About the company
"GfK-USM Ukraine survey and market research " is a Ukrainian subsidiary of GfK Group, one of the largest research companies, which holds 5-th place in the world among the major marketing companies, 4-th place in Europe for the research circulation and 1-st place in Central and Eastern Europe. GfK Group has more than 140 subsidiaries and 5 thousand employees in 51 countries of the world.
The main business activities of the Ukrainian subsidiary of GfK, established in 1998, are quantitative and qualitative research, branch research, media-research (Ad Hoc Research, Non-Food Trackіng, Сonsumer Trackіng, Medіa Research).
The aim of the project
On the global level Gfk is a corporate user of Mіcrosoft Dynamіcs NAV (previously Mіcrosoft Busіness Solutіons - Navіsіon) and this partially influenced the choice of consulting company for the system implementation. At the same time Іnnoware, the Gold Mіcrosoft Partner, was entrusted with management of the project in accordance with the global standards and providing that all GfK requirements are met without interruption of the business-processes.
The project objectives:
- Bookkeeping standardization according to GAAP (acknowledgement of income, non-negotiable assets recording, inventory accounting with connection to the local accounting)
- Combining management accounts and bookkeeping in one system
- Taking fiscal accounting according to the requirements of Ukrainian legislation
- Providing the possibility to estimate net cost of the projects
- Providing the tools for analysis of project profitability
- Obtaining different reporting
Implementation process
To solve the tasks Іnnoware implemented the following ІW Professional Services functionality:

Implementation outcome
As a result of a quick implementation GfK-USM Ukraine received a quality fiscal accounting and finance control in a single system. Standard settings of Mіcrosoft Dynamіcs NAV (previously Mіcrosoft Busіness Solutіons - Navіsіon) were sufficient to take into account all specific features of global GfK administrative policy. This allowed minimizing additional modifications which decreased project risks and duration. Thanks to the system implementation the company now has a possibility to run and process different types of reports (corporate, management and user reports).
Moreover, GfK-USM obtained a possibility to manage different types of projects and calculate their net-cost correctly thanks to correct distribution of indirect costs and defining profitability of the project.
According to Financial Director of GfK-USM Tetyana Cheremis, with rapid increase of customer base, management had to quickly and adequately evaluate importance of each separate project to the company. Now the system helps to set priorities in resources allocation.
